Getting a key on OpenAI is a little more complicated than it used to be.

Previously, OpenAI allowed you to create a key that could access everything that OpenAI had available. But the majority of OpenAI's customers are big corporations, and when big corporations are creating multiple keys for different areas of their business, they don't necessarily want those divisions to have access to EVERYTHING in OpenAI.

Below, we have given you two different ways of obtaining keys, based on how long you've been an OpenAI customer.

First, setup your account, if you haven't already...

No, this is not the same as ChatGPT. You cannot use your ChatGPT subscription to power Raptor Write. You must sign up for API access through OpenAI's Platform.

Go to http://platform.openai.com.

Click on Login (upper right corner) if you already have an OpenAI account. If you use ChatGPT, you probably already do. Use the same login credentials. If you have never used ChatGPT or an OpenAI product, click on Sign Up and open an account.

Once you have logged into the Platform, you will see a page similar to this...

Click on the Gear in the upper right corner.

This will bring you to the Settings page.

Click on Billing in the left nav.

On this page, you'll want to set up your Payment method. Give them a credit card and get that all setup.

Click on the Add to credit balance button to give them money to get you started. We recommend $10-$20. More if you only really use OpenAI's GPT models.

We also recommend you turn on Auto recharge if you use OpenAI GPT often and don't want to be locked out if your balance runs low.

Once your billing is set up and there's money in your account, you can proceed to setting up keys.

If you are a legacy OpenAI customer with keys already...
